If you keep losing sleep

The countdown to new silverchair material is almost over. On friday the unofficial-official website chairpage relaunches with a new design, and previews of the first single, Straight Lines, streaming (both video and audio). I have heard the song a couple of times live, and its an exciting turn for the lads from newcastle (plus the cover art has a nice Mondrian feel). They seem to be embracing a little more of a rock feel, but Daniel Johns seems to have turned his ear to have an incredible sense of pop. All of the new material (Straight Lines included) seems to flow from these crazy-catchy little snippets into crazy riff-driven sections that are much harder to grab a hold of and digest. Either way I am loving it and looking forward to the release of New Modern. The album is set to be released on March 31, the day before we fly out to NZ. I really hope we can get our hands on it before we leave… Keep reading…

Working class (wo)man

Chan has a new job, part of the reason for the silence on her side of the site. God is a wonderful provider and a casual job working with Presbyterian Aged Care practically landed in her lap, giving her enough hours to earn some good money, but leaving her time time during the week to keep sorting stuff out for us leaving.

She is an RAO (Recreational Activities Officer) which means she gets to help run activities and events for the residents. Highlights so far have been that she is going to get to be the bus driver, and the weekly calling of bingo.

In other news, Apple have released 5 flavours of ipod shuffle. yum.

counting down

it occured to me this week that we have been counting down for a lot of things - for a long time.

till we move out of home after school - till we find a partner - till we get engaged - till we get married - till we have babies - till we get old - till our kids graduate - till we bury our friends - till we die.

but everyone has their own count downs as well - and things that seem so important to us, may not affect in the slightest other people we know.

jords and i are counting down till we leave (10.5 weeks by the way) and at the same time - tim and rach are counting down to their wedding (2 days) other friends counting down to their birthdays - babies being due - kids going to school - people dying - TV shows starting for this year - or relationships ending.

i guess it helps to keep things in perspective - and not to dismiss anyone else because the thing that’s important to them might be the biggest countdown they are experiencing.

we are so blessed to have the life that we do. and we’re loving it :)

Getting Hot

As always happens at this time of year, voting is on for triplej’s hottest 100. And on Australia day we will be counting them down while we continue to pack.Voting was a bit of a tough one this year. There weren’t heaps of songs i wanted to vote for, but there were about 20 which i really, really wanted to vote for. Oh well, here are my 10 votes:

Counting Down

We’re another week closer and everything is starting to happen.

The packing continues, and or little study is rapidly filling up with boxes. We’re returning and lending furniture, and organising places for things to live. On that note, is anyone intersted in “bunny-sitting” a rabbit while we are away?
We’re both starting to look for and apply for jobs over there. There have been a few nibbles, but like many things, we can’t do  too much about any of it until we are there.

But in more exciting news we are counting down to Tim and Rachel’s wedding this coming saturday. How exciting :)

Boxed Out

Boxed [070101]

Well it’s all starting now. On the weekend we cleared out the study to make room for the gradual accumulation of packed boxes. We’ve worked our way through a bunch of linen, all our platters and some dinner sets. Oh yeah, and all my Snoopy collectibles and fluffy toys. Keep reading…

just under 3

yep - just under 3 months till we leave - the boxes are being delivered tomorrow and so the packing will begin… all of our worldly possessions will go into boxes and the countdown will only shorten from here on in…

hard to believe we just had a break but with jordan back at work again already but it was great to catch up with family…

only a few more weeks to tim and rachels wedding and an exciting time that is - watching probably your closest friends get married and know that when we get home we’ll be hanging out and our kids will grow up as friends is an awesome thought.

2007 has sarted well - i wonder how we will end it… bring it on!

2007

Well I hope you all had a wonderful break and a fabulous Christmas and New Years. Back to the real world today, settling in to work and designing the cover for the new Fairies magazine. Masculine I know.

We had a lovely, but quite full break. Spent the weekend before Christmas with my family in Austinmer, including a trip to the Wollongong fish markets bright and early on Christmas Eve morning.
