A few bits and peices

Chan has handled the only big news we’ve had in the last little while, so i thought i would treat you to a few more little thoughts…

- We’ve started to watch Heroes, and man is it excellent. The little twists and turns, and interlinking of stories, although expected, is fantastic. And you have to love a primetime tv show that tries to get its head around time travel.

-I have discovered a way that i can tag my photos with their location (in longitude and latitude) so when i load them to flickr they are automatically plotted on a map. I only have a couple in there so far, but take a look at where in christchurch the photos have been taken here.

-Our big BBQ and Grand Final plans for sunday night were foiled by the fact that the game isn’t being shown on free-to-air until 11:35pm. But the BBQ is still going ahead, then we are heading down the road to a pub that will be shpwing the game live. Hurrah.

- I’m now part of the team, my shirt for the soccer team arrived so now I look the part.

cultured… or what

On Saturday i was very much treated to a special night which was the celebration of me getting my job (yes 3 months ago). we decided when we got here that once we got jobs we would do something nice - for jordan we went out for tea and got a few things he wanted and for me - well when we arrived - the NZ Ballet started to advertise Cinderella. So once i got my first paycheck, i booked us (with permission of course) tickets to go and see Cinderella. Eventually the night rolled around (22nd) and after a gorgeous dinner at Maddisons Restaurant (part of the Heritage Hotel) where Jordan enjoyed 3 courses of French Cuisine and i was treated to a beautiful dinner, we headed off to the theatre royal to watch the ballet.

the show actually started before the curtain went up (the curtain being black mesh) and we could see people moving around on stage and the same thing happened at the 2 intervals - so even though they werent dancing there was something to look at.

the dancing was amazing and the outfits were gorgeous (except the boys tights, they were ALL wrong) there was a balance of acting (with no words) and dancing and it told the story well, and as an expert on the Cinderella story, i wasnt disappointed.

oh and the orchestra was sitting under the stage, but we could see the conductors arms flailing around -  it was very cool.

I felt very cultured… until we ran to catch the bus home to quickly change into trakkers, grab a beer,  and watch the Manly v Nth Queensland football match.

it was an amazing night - and thank you to my wonderful husband for sitting through whole ballet without clambering onto the  stage to bust a few moves.

ok - so we knew it was going to happen with the world cup going on - but on Monday morning at 6.45 i will be drawing a line of compromise as i come to work and cheer for the All Blacks along with my Colleagues.

Sadly it comes down to the fact that if the Wallabies had some better looking players - i might be tempted to get patriotic… but when it comes to the big games - im not sure if i can say im a “black wallaby”

Random

a few random thoughts from the last few days…

- We returned from sun and warmth to a 10 degree rainy wednesday. Lovely.

- We flipped on the tv last night to catch Catriona Rowntree extolling the virtues of Gerringong. I think she must have been confused.

- 2 new sites of mine have been launched. Pauanui Pines is a resort up in the North of the North Island, and Real Journeys is a company that runs tours and cruises in a number of places including fjiordland way down south. (You can see their old design on the international site here).

- Soccer tomorrow night is at 5:20. Ridiculously early.

home again - home again

We were trying to figure out whether we were going home - or whether we were coming home today…

despite having an awesome time seeing our families and friends - we both were happy to fly back in to Christchurch today after our very quick visit to sydney.

i think we are home… at least for now

this time tomorrow…

my life will be very different this time tomorrow - its become increasingly harder to contain myself and i have had to resort to filing to try and deaden this ever growing excitement… why does time go so slow when you are the most in anticipation?? Gods sense of humour i guess.

The new BBQ [080907]

That’s right, we have a BBQ, and it is very, very, very, very exciting. Since we arrived, we have missed being able to just fire up the barbie for dinner like we would have back at fleet st. And as nice as our frying pan has been, it just doesn’t seem to do a good job of cooking meat, so it has been a long long time since we had a nice steak.

It all started because we want to organise a Grand Final (NRL) bbq for a few weeks time, and of course didn’t have a bbq. One of the ladies from Chan’s work heard that we were looking for one. and offered we could buy hers.
