not much to add

.!.

Jordan has pretty much covered our weekend and it was lovely. i must say that in part i can understand why people play golf - and the other part of me thinks they are all mad…

9 holes was definately enough and i hated admitting it to Jono who told me i would get bored - i got bored.

But everyone appreciated the BBQ and really - who better than a couple of aussies could work the BBQ.

not much else to report - bought a few new canvases to paint on the weekend so we will see what becomes of them in the near future…

A Weekend Update

Just a few quick notes to fill you in on the weekend…
After a few drinks on friday night (at the Vic and Whale) we had a fabulous dinner at a chinese restaurant down on Colombo St (whose name I need to find out). Its fantastic to have somewhere where you will know you will get good chinese food, instead of having to take a punt.

On Saturday morning we headed out to New Brighton to check out a new cafe called Fuel for breakfast. The food was lovely (we are more and more understanding the virtues of free-range eggs) and the coffee was passable. After that we headed to SaveMart (a giant op-shop) to get some second hand clothes and did our fruit and vege (and grocery) shopping before heading home.

It’s time for another show and tell. A few more sites of mine have been launched (some I am more proud of than others) and i thought i would give you a look.

NZVentures
A Budget priced touring company offering trips around both islands, targeted at a younger market and based on their existing marketing collateral

ok so im not sure how it happened but now (well tonight) i became an honorary cabbage.

now i have never played indoor soccer before but i’ve watched a LOT of it and its a bit harder on the  court than off…

But i kicked their goalie in the face - and almost scored so it wasnt all bad…

and i feel better of it although mostly just feel unfit :)

i’ve been invited back so it wasnt all bad… jordan said i was pretty good - but he could be biased

Well, its been a whirlwind weekend, and we apologise for the silence on the blog, but i’m here to fill you in now.

Shrooms divx

Early on Saturday afternoon we headed to the airport to pick up my parents for a visit. This morning we dropped them off at the train station and they are driving around the South Island for 2 weeks before checking back in with us for a weekend. Yesterday was Labour Day in NZ so we got a long weekend, and we managed to make it a jam packed one. (photos are forthcoming once I upload them)

tonight

i must say - since booking tickets to go to tonights concert and today actually arriving, there has been a long wait - but its finally over.

after our 2006 effort of coming home from NZ to go and see silverchair to this years effort of moving to NZ and getting to see them, we feel pretty lucky.

in uncharacteristic form - the concert is advertised to start at 6pm which is a little unheard in the stadium concert scene in aussie - but at least we wont be home too late.

Op Shop are the openers (a NZ band that i like more than jordan but they are ok - big blokes usually dont sing as nice as this guy - its odd to watch)

the headlining act has changed from the time it was first advertised - with Silverchair taking their rightful position on top of the bill with powderfinger as second support (well thats not entirely true - they are billed together but i like silverchair more)

anyhow - its been a while coming and we are both excited… 6 hours to go

There were 2 very proud victories yesterday.

The Kangaroos thrashed the Kiwis 58-0 in the International Rugby League test in an absolute drubbing. We got to watch the game one the Maori Channel a couple of hours delayed, which was exciting.

But what was even more exciting was that the Hooligans (my indoor soccer team) won our grand final yesterday afternoon 9-7. It was always going to be a tough match, and could have gone either way. We were down 4-5 at halftime, although we felt as though we were marginally on top. As the opposition got more frustrated and tired, we were able to capitalise and pull away. The sparked a small comeback late in the second half, but were able to hold them off to clinch the victory. Huzzah.

wof

chan | 11/10/072 Comments

WOF (Warrant of Fitness) are required by all cars on NZ roads. WHere in other countries, you are required to register, greenslip and insure your car all in one go - in NZ all vehicles over 6 years old must be inspected every 6 months and declared roadworthy (this is a fairly loose use of the word) you only need to insure the car if you feel like it and there is no CTP or greenslip required.

A WOF will set you back $35 plus any repais you need to have done to the car (Tyres etc - we had to get 1 tyre last WOF)

I will point out here that you do NOT need to have reversing lights to pass a WOF as apparently this doesnt affect the car on the road at all. However, if you have 2 different bulbs in your lights - you will fail.

Hence the registration of a car is much easier and for those who are penny watchers - rego can be done in 3, 6 or 12 month increments.
