Hi there!
I was scouting through some info on Christchurch and found your site. My hubby and I and family 2 adult kids and one 15 year old are possibly moving to C'church in Jan 2008 my hubby is a pastor and is taking up a pastorate there. It is a big move for our family and I am keen to find out more about living in C'church, cost of food, cars, my kids are keen surfers, my eldest son has just completed his Marine Biology degree and is hoping to get to do some voluntary work around the area first to get some experience while still living at home, our daughter has been working as a swim coach this year and is hoping to start her degree at Canterbury Uni, our 15 year old son is still at school. Big move for the two kids who are still going to be living at home for a few years yet. I saw from your site that you go to a Bible Study, so it would be cool if you have time to be able to gain some wisdom from you as you have been living there for some months. I was in C'church with Rob for a couple of weeks as we spent time with ppl from the church, and noticed that food was quite pricy. Are there cheap/reasonable places to shop? New World seemed expensive comparatively. I don't think the water would be as warm as here in summer either. Would wetsuits be worn all through the summer as well for surfing etc? We were hoping to live somewhere around Sumner. Hope you are still enjoying your Kiwi experience. Electricity sounds very expensive indeed, any other surprises we should know about before we come? Still it is all an adventure, and if God wants us there He will look after all of the details.
Look forward to hearing from you, Alison
