sick… again…

chan | 27/5/081 Comment

Dont get me wrong - i love getting gifts from my husband - he is mostly very thoughtful in his choice of gifts - but i have to say, something he gives me more regularly these days, are his germs… and im not loving it.

We have been passing this stupid bug between us for a little over 3 months now, with the odd good week exception. and its getting tiresome. i think my body has started rejecting cold medication and being that they have started taking out all the “good” bits, i find myself taking SO much longer to get better. why must  people be addicted to drugs made from cold medication - its SO inconsiderate.

And its hard to look forward to things when you are sick… the thought of the rugby on saturday sends chills up my spine and it will be pretty chilly aas i go to collect the tickets today - brrrrrrr.

but the sun is out - and thats nice :) i think tops of 13 for the rest of this week. i have my little fan heater purring by my feet (yes a heater, not the cat). and i have been drinking vanilla tea with honey - which is lovely (and apparently smells like petes car?!)… only 5 more hours left in the work day - YAY!

Guess who

This weekend marks a pretty interesting time for us as the final of the rugby looms and were forced to decided. Do we support the Waratahs (sydney) or the Crusaders (canterbury, christchurch).

Now we arent really that into Rugby Union but there will be lines drawn and crossed on Saturday night… in an effort to not have to choose, i am hoping for a draw - but that is unlikely.

WHo should we support??? we were wondering that too…

The photos from archery have been uploaded… so i thought i would share one of the here.

Group 1

So what else is happening…
We’re in the final countdown to the first State of Origin, and this year we can watch it from the comfort of home, instead of having to go out somewhere. Here’s hoping the Blues can beat the odds, and the Maroons.

On Saturday we went to Archery (or archering, or shooting - whichever you prefer)… it was a whole bunch of fun and i can say with certainty that i don’t think i will make a hunter anytime soon (despite “killing’ our styrofoam bear a LOT)

We did some practice targets, then the bear, then some speed shooting (Jordan was the only one to get off his 4 arrows in 20 seconds) and then a team event for shooting balloons.

I can say that it was both easier and harder than i imagined - but something i would definately do again.

In other news - happy birthday to our friends who have had them in the last week (of which there was a few) and the “old dog new tricks” project i started is coming along well but stay tuned for more on that.

The weather has been interesting - a few frosty type mornings but refreshing to say the least. the new electric blanket, heater and slow cooker are all getting a good workout.

We miss everyone and would love to know how our friends are all getting on - so drop us a line with your news…

positively balmy

After our little cold snap the weather has been pretty good - until this morning when i was pushing ice around the INSIDE of our bedroom window…

The best purchase we have made so far this winter(ish) is that of a slow cooker (or crockpot), i have enjoyed not having to come home and cook dinner but more so, the lovely aromas when we arrive home are simply stunning. i have used it only a few times but can see it being a lovely asset to our home and jordan marvels at how the machine actually works so we are all entertained.

Poor Jaxon doesnt know what to make of this weather and we often find him curled up when we get home… yay for gloves i say!!!

old dog

im sure you are all aware of the saying you cant teach an old dog new tricks - i often pondered the age of said dog to establish when in life we can stop learning. Obviously the intellect of a dog is kind of a moot point as i have known some pretty smart and some pretty dumb dogs…

Anyhow - what im getting at is that i am trying something different that i havent really done before and being that i like to get things right the first time i am forced to weigh up my sucess rate with the skill level - which at the moment is quite low… do i press on??  or take the old dog option??

in other news - the bin lid was frozen this morning and the grass is getting “crunchy”

um… Snow

chan | 2/5/080 Comments

yeah - ok so we went out after work last night and there was slush and icy enough stuff to make snow balls to chuck around and today after the rain and crazy other weather wore off - there was snow on the cashmere hills (you can see in this pic) - for those of you have been here - we probably took you up to get the over view of the city so its not really that far from home…

we havent had snow falling yet on the ground and maybe it will (maybe it wont) but i am holding out all hope that its going to work and i will get to run around in it and catch some on my tongue - i shall keep you all posted.

SNOW!!!
