im sure its not a shock for anyone who knows me to read this and not understand where i am at right now… its feels like an eternity till we will be in Sydney again and seeing those closest to us and being there for those that need us…

Kickin It Old Skool movie full

there have been times i have felt far away from loved ones but none so much as now and we are counting the sleeps till we return to Aussie soil and see friends and family (some for the first time).

thoughts and prayers are with k & d and those supporting them at the moment and hopefully we will have some good news to report before the day is out…

Broken

Last week I had to send my new(ish) camera off to be repaired. It decided it no longer wanted to turn on, and no amount of tips, fixes and troubleshooting seemed to convince it. So it has been shipped off to Auckland so the people at Canon can take a closer look.

So I won’t have my canon for the visit to Sydney, but I’m ok with it. Less to bring on the plane, and my little point and shoot still does a fantastic job.

Thankfully, the original owner of the canon took out a 5 year warranty - and it was able to be transferred to me, so everything is covered. Its just a waiting game…

Weird. “You and Whose Army” by Radiohead just came on, and for some reason it took me back to stduying at enmore tafe. I would head to Marrickville Metro for lunch, and have the bargain turkish pide. mmmm.

Musics funny like that sometimes. I have heard the song maybe a thousand times since then, but for some reason it made me think of it. Weird

anticipation…

More Snow

jord | 11/8/081 Comment

We must be acclimatising if it took us this long to mention it, but it snowed again on the weekend. There was a little blanket of white when we woke up on Saturday morning, but sadly it had all been washed to mush by about lunchtime by the rain. But needless to say, it was very chilly all weekend. We are mostly used to it, but sometimes its just freezing.

Work has been pretty busy, but starting to get a little quieter now. We’ve had a handful of sites laucnh recently that I’ve been involved in. You can read about them over here.

We’re counting down to September, and really looking forward to getting to see everyone while we are visiting. Only a couple of weeks to go.

Slice of Heaven

Jord and i have been struggling for the past little while with the vast differences between foods in Aust vs NZ. Mostly on occasions when you just “feel like having…” to realise that you cant get it here - or if you can its just not quite right.

We have been making a list of things we want to have when we get back to Oz for the week in September (happy chef, donuts, BBQ chicken, light break - just to name a few).

On the weekend we tried a new cafe for breakfast and were utterly astounded… it was amazing - the coffee was gorgeous, the food was delish and the ambiance was perfect. We have decided it will become our new fav, even if we do need to book a table.

We then went on a mission to find Yum Cha as we had both been craving it for the longest time… we read a few reviews and were a little scared by what people had to say - but realising that anyone who has been to a decent yum cha expects to be barked at in very broken english, and needs to point when ordering, we gave one place a go… under the watchful eye of all the other patrons (who were ALL asian - another sign of awesome food). It was a little different to the conventional as we had to order off a menu and then the dishes were cooked and brought to us instead of trolleys going around - and it was AWESOME!!!! most of the things were ordered by the pictures and the waitresses looked sceptical at us until they realised that we could wield chopsticks like pro’s - and we had one of the best (and cheapest) lunches yet…

after that we went to see the new Batman flick and managed to keep all the tyres inflated!!! go team go.

All in all it was a culinary delightful day… YAY!
