Its as though he knew…

jord | 30/9/080 Comments

We have a relatively flexible living arrangement with Jaxon. He gets locked in the house at night after dinner, and we let him out after breakfast to have free roam throughout the day. When we arrive home in the evening, he normally totters up the driveway to meet us and come in the front door because he is too lazy to go around to his kitty door at the back.

Chan had booked Jaxon in for his next round of vaccinations last night, and the plan was to lock him in a bit earlier when we got home, so we would put him in his little carry cage and take him off. But he was nowhere to be found.

Straw Dogs rip He arrived home an hour and a bit later, slighty smug and contented.

fix-ed

So the car is well again…
turned out to be a faulty inhibitor switch - took about 10 mins and we’re sorted - the switch is a pain to replace so we are hoping that it will just be ok for now…
but since we know what the problem is - if it doesnt start again we ‘should’ know whats doing.
theres a lot to be said for mechanics though - this guy was lovely - and despite banging some stuff under the bonnet with a hammer - it all turned out ok in the end.

Broken Car

jord | 28/9/080 Comments

We were on our way to try out a new cafe for breakfast on Saturday morning when we discovered the car was broken. The lights came on, the radio and th a/c came on, but no love from the engine.

We pushed the car out from the garage and thanks to  the boys at the tattoo shop across the road we were able to try and jump start it. Unfortunately this didn’t work either. So the car is sitting all on its lonesome at home - the mechanic is coming tomorrow to take a look.

Thankfully some friends were able to run us to the supermarket to do our shopping (sort of) for the week, so we are prepared for the worst. But will see what happens.

It’s back

Self Portrait

Well I got my camera back from repairs last week which was very exciting. Special thanks to dave for letting me borrow his for a bit while we were in Sydney.

Canon NZ took their time with it, and it turns out the cost of repairs was around $670. Makes me thankful that the guy I bought it from had an extended warranty that was transferable.

Its certainly nice to have it back, so you should start seeing a lot more photos uploaded.

memories…

i can remember for the longest time visiting Nambucca and driving past the old house on Listen Street with the old brickwork fence and the hole where the Blue Tongue used to live…

or driving through Taren Point with mum and slowing down past the old house that she and dad lived in when we were babies

and driving through penshurt, mortdale and peakhurst past places where i used to call home. somehow it gives you a sense of belonging.

i often thought about having kids and taking them to the house that we first lived in when we were married.…
Gone

yeah - i guess not.…

Culinary Journey

chan | 17/9/081 Comment

As there are so many varied food items we miss while living in NZ, we made a little bit of an effort while we were home to enjoy all of the things that we haven’t been able to have in a while.

From the simple snack to dinner out – we enjoyed and indulged ourselves a little. I will write what we had but please remember we were in Sydney for 2 weeks so it sounds worse that it actually was.

Donut from Donut King at Hurstville Westfield

Oporto (missed those chips)

Oatley Pie

Happy Chef – wonton noodle soup and laksa

Emperor Custard Puffs from China Town

Ice cream at Cronulla Ice Creamery

Pub Lunch and Australian Beer!

Dinner at Big Johns - Sans Souci

Pauls Hamburgers

Smiths Fish and Chips

Dinner at Hogs Breath – St Marys

Danish from the Penshurst Bakery

Cold Rock at Cronulla

And a bunch of lovely meals at home with family and friends…
