deceptacat

chan | 30/10/082 Comments

We have now experienced that pets can be just as deceptive as small children - maybe all these people thinking of having kids should get pets first - there are more than a few similarities.
Jaxon has not coped well with the addition of our new house guests - and thats not to say that these people arent nice - he is just very particular about things - and thats just how he rolls.
yesterday morning he was being particularly strange and meowing a lot and running to different places in the room in what i thought was an attept for attention grabbing. The night before we had left the kitty door locked open so he could get back in as he wasnt home before we went to bed (that in itself is a bit naughty) but was asleep on the couch and ate brekkie when we got up.
So after all this ridiculous noise i let him out - ate breakfast - chatted to Nath and Soph and they then opened the door to courtyard to check on some washing when WHOOSH!!!!!!! a black and white cat came running out of Jaxons box in the corner, across the loungeroom, throught the kitchen, and out the door.…
It would appear that Jaxon had been a decoy to keep us from noticing another cat in the house… sneaky little critter that he is.
He was given a firm talking to yesterday afternoon and sooked on the couch for most of the night.
Parenting is hard.

New Team, New Location

jord | 28/10/081 Comment

The last soccer season finished up a few weeks ago, and with depleted numbers and a few players taking a season off, our team (The Hooligans) was sadly discontinued. I had a great time playing with the boys (Jerry, Nath, Jonno, Roger, Ric, Cam and Brad) and I will really miss it I think.

The good news is that Eliot Sinclair has another team playing, so i will be joining them to keep playing at least up until Christmas. I have played with them a few time before, and it should be good, although we are playing in a different competition, so it will be interesting to see how that goes.

Endings and Beginnings

2+2+1=5

The above is what our house is comprised of this week. 2 aussies plus 2 kiwis plus 1 kitty cat equals the gillmaniac house.
We are hosting 2 friends as they had to move out of their house and need to find a new one. Having flatmates is fun - but if you have been to our house - its pretty ‘cosy’ with 4.
jaxon is finding these new additions interesting and despite having seen then regularly over the last year still is shy when it comes to playing well with others.

the weather is a bit special this week with mid twenties on Monday and Tuesday and back to a balmy 9 or so today. it makes me wonder how we ever survived in the heat of summer in sydney as we have both enjoyed the cool weather here a lot.

New Years

chan | 20/10/080 Comments

i know - its a little early to be talking about the New Year but this year we are doing something quite exciting to see in the beginning of 2009.

Singin’ in the Rain movie download living here in New Zealand affords us to one of the most amazing things - being the first country (other than a few small pacific islands) to receive the FIRST SUN of the day IN THE WORLD… and even better - we are going to be on the most eastern tip of the country to see it happen. im getting goosebumps just thinking about it… its going to be pretty special.

the only downside of course is that there is a music festival on that week and we have to stay an hour and a half away but thats what travel mugs of coffee are for…

Who knows what 2009 will hold for all of us - but its going to start pretty spectacularly…

Seagars

chan | 13/10/080 Comments

The weather has lately taken a turn for the amazing - so we set off on Saturday for a splendid drive up to Oxford which contains nothing more than a few arty shops and Seagars cooking school and cafe.

We decided to have a light lunch and i chose the “tea plate” which contained a 3 tiered cake stand complete with hot savouries, sammiches of all shapes and sizes and sweet treats on the top…

It was a lovely time and thank you to Jordan for the lovely surprise of chosing our destination.

dont it always seem to go.…

sometimes you dont know what you’ve got til its gone. whether it be an old faithful pair of socks or shoes - or friends you hadnt realised you missed so much until you put them on a plane - or a casserole dish that used to hold just the right amount of food - or the relationships that you take for granted and then they change and you wish that you’d put so much more time into cultivating them before that change occured because you are ‘that’ insecure about whether you will be important enought to be remembered in time - and whether time will affect your relationship - or whether you are too far away to do anything about it at all.

Some days there arent enough tears to go around - and some days you would have  wished for things differently - and some days theres not a damned thing you can do about it other than hope…
