food nirvana

Last of the Dogmen release I once heard a sermon from a guy who’s opening story revolved around being overseas and thinking about cheeseburgers, re-living in his head the experience of eating a cheeseburger and anticipating until he could once again enjoy one. At the time i wondered how anyone could get that excited over eating a cheeseburger - or any other food for that matter.… and so my story begins.

Almost 3 yeas ago I attended a conference in Wellington which went for only a couple of days, and since I was the only one who hadnt been before I just went along with the crowd in terms of what we did and where we ate.

I remembered that we ate at an amazing Malaysian restaurant. However, I had no idea what it was called or where it was (other than down an alley type street in Wellington) so I guess you could say it was kind of like this unwarranted need to find this place so I knew I wasn’t going completely mad - but in asking if people knew the place and my very vague description - I sounded kind of completely mad in any case.

However - victory was at hand after we went to the iSite, and as soon as I mentioned that the place had round booths - one of the staff members knew the place and since I was so elated, and the fact they are closed today, we went for dinner there last night.
It was better than I remembered, from the cocktail in the bar when we arrived, to the roti before dinner, to the amazing flavours of Malaysian food, we had a great dinner and my anticipation was, at last, quelled.
I was basking in food nirvana for the rest of the evening…
