tragic
and again
i was trying to think of that last 1st birthday that i attended and i have to say - i cant think of one. partly because we were out of the country and partly because our friends only have young babies - we just seem to have gone by without having to attend one.
there are a lot of varying opinions about 1st birthdays - do you, dont you, who is it really for, how much effort has to go in, who will be attending… etc etc
i hadnt really ever had to think of any of this so it was interesting leading up to my nephews party - seeing the beast from the inside out…
my sister and her husband (with help from our mum) did a spectacular job and may have heightened the bar for 1st birthdays the world over - it was amazing - the people that came, the gifts that were given and the food that was consumed… its funny that it was rarely one of the 30 children in attendance that i saw with the fairy bread.
it was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and new friends and family - and to get a good look at the people that are going to be a part of his life, whether children to grow along side him, or adults to guide him.
i guess part of that falls with me and jordan - for now im happy to be the cool aunt who gets drooled on and smiled at. i fear that all the birthdays after this may require more of me than just a cake - but im looking forward to all of them.
thanks to everyone for your kind words about the cake - it was a combined effort and the brainchild of a pair of strange sisters… but i think we did ok.
im sick of being sick - yet again - i have a cold/flu type arrangement and im just annoyed at having to deal with it all again. its the sickest i’ve been in 1 year and its not even over yet…
hopefully it wont last - or i want be able to get on the plane to NZ - and that would be tragic!!!
On the wayhome last night on the train - just before Padstow - a lady collapsed.
it was a little frightening - but what was more frightening was the complete lack of care/common-sense/insight shown by the other commuters.
i did a first aid course a couple of years ago (in NZ) and i wouldnt by any stretch of the imagination say that i was equipped any better than anyone else to assist this woman - but its like eveyones brains just switched off .
without going into the whole thing i was most astounded at the fact that people were asking for her to be taken off the train by guards so they could get home…
and being asked to keep it down whilst shouting out hoping for a doctor or nurse to be on the train…
what have become????
Hi everyone. Life has been pretty packed and busy for the last little while. Chan has kept you updated on our car and pet situations, but i thought i might fill you in on some other things.
I think most of you know (but possibly some of you don’t) that I am now running jordesign as a full time design studio. I’ve got one major ongoing contract (working on the fantastic site fervr) but am actively looking for other clients, so if you know anyone who needs any design work done, feel free to suggest they drop me a line.
