Hiding Spot

Bentley’s new favourite sleeping spot…

flu like symptoms

you havent lived until you have been sneezed on by a cat…

our poor baby boy has the flu… not too dissimilar to when we get a cold. Glassy eyes that leak water, sneezing, coughing and sleeping - A LOT.
sadly though - we think he caught it while we were on holidays as he was being boarded with other cats. evidently its quite contagious and with a shot of antibiotics (that heis getting today) he will be fine.

He can still be a ratbag at times, after all he is still just a kitten, but most of the time he is adorable.

our christmas “Angel”

with only a few scratches to prove the effort i went to - allow me to present Bentley, ready for his first Chirstmas…

Angelic

one of the joys of decorating the tree was watching Bentley play with the unwanted (and ugly) hanging things for the tree and i just couldnt resist attaching this bow to his collar - suprisingly its still there today and seems to worry him very little although it didnt last long where it is in the picture - now its more round the back of his neck…

sadly there isnt really a way to decorate the fishes - maybe a little tinsel on the tank will have to do - although the longer we go without the cat knowing there are there the better off we will be…

Christmas has never really been about trees and decorations but God sending His Son to die on a cross to save us from our sins. And that is we will be truly thankful - not the presents (although presents are cool).

new friends

What do you do when your first instinct when you meet someone is to bite them?
No im not referring to some crazed vampire person but to the introduction between Bentley and Ella.

I guess at the ‘parents’ of one of the parties involved, being nervous was expected… but we couldn’t have been prouder of our boy. He was well behaved and even played a little with his new friend. No claws were involved at all but he certainly had some sharing issues with some of Ellas toys and her mat to sit on.
I know that i was, and am assuming everyone else was blown away by the amazing gentleness shown by both baby and kitten. There was touching and patting and sitting together and not the slightest hint of a problem. The 4 of us adults all perched and ready to snap into intervene but we all just watched the two of them get to know each other a little bit.
I hope this is a friendship that will last a long, long time.
from this picture of them sharing a chair it looks like maybe it might…

Naughty Kitty

We had partially forgotten many of the “joys” of having a kitten - but we are gradually being reminded of them as time goes by.

This morning I got up a little early to make some sandwiches for lunch. I was midway through, just having placed the ham on the bread, when i noticed the time and figured I should wake Chan up to get ready for work.

I returned to the kitchen a few minutes later to find that Bentley had nonchalantly jumped up onto the bench and removed the ham from one of Chan’s  sandwiches. Apparently he thinks ham tastes pretty good.

Big. Trouble.

A New Addition

Kitchen ChairWell it has been an increasingly long time since we have seen Jaxon. While we mourn his loss, and hold many, many fond memories of his time with us, we decided it was time to think about another kitty entering the Gillman household.

With that in mind I would like to introduce you to Bentley.

He is an 8 week (about) old Silver Tabby, and he now calls our house his brand new home. He is energetic (as you would expect) and a little bit mischevious, but we love him.

I’m sure you will be hearing lots more about him in the coming weeks.
