When the best laid plans are.…
So i decided to take Jordan as a surprise to see the new batman flick (The Dark Knight) and the first screening was at 12.01am last night. After having a very quick dinner we went to bed to have a sleep beforehand (with jordan being very confused) and we jumped up at just before 11pm to head off.
Occasionally we have had our tyres go down - mostly due to the gravel in our carport and if the car is parked for a while on stones they tend to leak - so one of them was quite low - as we headed off, we decided to stop and fill it up. It was raining quite badly but we had time to fill it up and be on our way… or at least we thought so. Keep reading…
twenty/20
Last night we went to the cricket to watch NZ and England in a twenty/20. Despite the freezing wind temp - it was an Awesome game (even thought NZ lost) i was personally very disappointed that Daniel Vittori was out injured but his replacement was sufficient to keep me interested in the game.
i have decided that beer in plastic bottles just doesnt taste the same and is far to expensive for my liking but we have now been to one of the cutest stadiums in the world, where you can watch cricket and if you get bored - can look out over the Port Hills.
this time tomorrow…
my life will be very different this time tomorrow - its become increasingly harder to contain myself and i have had to resort to filing to try and deaden this ever growing excitement… why does time go so slow when you are the most in anticipation?? Gods sense of humour i guess.
tick tock
Sore
Well, for a quick update on soccer from the other night…
They only had 4 players in the end, so it was lucky i was there. The game is heaps quicker than futsal, which I am used to, as the field is sorrounded in nets and the ball never goes out. Getting used to the other different rules was a bit interesting, but i mostly have the hang of it now.
Anyhow, we ended up winning 8-4 which was good. And we found out the best thing of all, the sports centre has a bar upstairs overlooking the 3 nets. So we were able to go have a celebratory drink after our victory. Good stuff.
night out
Last night I experienced what would have been one of the best live music performance I have ever seen and the worst display of manners I have ever witnessed. We were at Als bar to watch Liam Finn who is touring to promote his new solo album which – if last night is any indication – will be awesome! He was accompanied on stage by Jimmy Barnes’ daughter However – the rudeness of the people around us was incredible – the couple next to me talked in every song that was played – im not kidding EVERY ONE!! It was a joke but much to Jords surprise I didn’t have a go at them or lose my temper – I just sat with one hand firmly pressed up against my ear for a while – at one point I thought they had gotten the hint – but I was wrong. But it wasn’t only them – there were pockets of people all over the venue doing the same thing. It was a shame though – the bar was awesome and really lovely. I think it was the first time ever that we didn’t buy a shirt – which was a bit sad but maybe next time.
All in all a good night with the rain not dampening our spirits. He is very talented and definitely a ‘must buy’
Pacific Blues
Here’s a funny story :)
Yesterday morning, emma, dan, chan and myself left the house at 4am to head to the airport, in order for emma and dan to get their flight home after a few days with us, and driving around the island. Needless to say we were all pretty bleary-eyed and tired, but they got the hire car dropped off ok, and we all arrived at the airport. When we got inside we checked the departure board and saw the one word you don’t want to see when looking there… Canceled. Keep reading…
Century
This is post #100 for jordandchan.com, and as a celebration, we are going to have another best and worst post…
Best:
*Car Rego - We had to register the car last week, and compared to back home the process is entirely painless. Our form arrived in the mail, we took it with us to the post office, and were in and out in under 2 minutes. You can register fora period of 3 months, 6 months or 12 months depending on what you can afford. Awesome.
*Fitting in at church - Church is starting to feel more and more like home. We have joined the music roster, singing once a month, which is cool. We just need to make sure we know they songs they are doing. We also hung out with a handful of the younger folk after church last night watching a short film competition that one of the girls was in. It was all pretty good.
Worst:
*Garbage and Recycling Collection - Over here we don’t have bins, but the council supplies you with special grabage bags to use. Now the council will only collect rubbish that is in these bags, and in May you are supposed to get a voucher to go collect your year’s supply. We are still waiting for ours, and being forced to buy the council garbage bags for just under a dollar a bag, ouch. And to add to matters the last 2 weeks, we have returned home after work on bin day, to find our recycle bin missing. Last week it returned out the front, full of broken glass form a party in one of the other units. It still hasn’t returned this week. Crazy.
*Slicing your finger - Yesterday was set aside to tidy and clean the house in readiness for our houseguests later this week. I was moving stuff of one of the shelves in the kitchen and as i was carrying the toaster is drop it, and miraculously managed to catch it in one hand. Sadly in the process i managed to take a chunk out of my finger on the inside of the toaster. It proceeded to bleed for a nuber of hours, and stopped me from doing any of the helpful cleaning things I had been planning on.
More than a feeling
This post will be of limited interest to many of you. But for some, this is the greatest moment of television EVER. Some of the cast doing an air-band version of “More than a feeling”.
