happy birthday

my husbands birthday today

funny to think that 9 years ago it took me 4 weeks to figure out what to get him for his birthday because i liked him but didnt know if he liked me - and i didnt want to look like and idiot - but i didnt want him to think that i didnt like him - but he was so young - but it was only a few years - and what did i get him… a jigsaw puzzle.
it all seems a little symbolic now - looking back over our relationship to this point - that it was a puzzle to begin with but slowly we are building something awesome and sometimes we get it a little bit wrong and try to make things fit that dont - but we are working together at our life and i wouldnt have it any other way.

Love you - Happy Birthday

I’ve been contemplating…

so my last blog regarding my birthday was a peek into how i’ve been taking the realisation that im going to be 30. Now it has become a free for all for everyone i know to start making jokes about it and im left with the decision to make whether i will let this upset me more or whether i will laugh along and actually try to ‘enjoy’ the experience.
i was having a hard time looking at the whole thing based on my own expectations of my life and i guess i’ve realised that i cant do that - its not up to me - and im not going to question God as to why i dont get my own way. so i guess i’ve come to terms with the fact that right now i am where i am supposd to be, working where i belong and am married to arguably the best husband in the world.
so yes - im still a little terrified about being 30 - but when it happens i will be with those i love the most and those whole love me - and most of them are older anyhow - haha.

Autumnal

I had to put a jumper on today.

Or a sweater, a jersey - call it what you will. Either way, it was cold enough to require an extra layer. After struggling with the heat throughout most of summer, it seems the change of season has happened quite literally overnight.

There is a chill in the air, the house is cooling down for the first time in months, and I love it.

go canada!!!!!

i just dont want to be 30.

there, i said it - i dont want it! i dont want to go up a bracket in the age question of surveys, i dont want to be ‘grown up’ i dont want to be any closer to ‘middle age’ even though its a good excuse to have a crisis and buy a Harley - i dont want a party - i dont want to acknowledge it and most of all i dont want to have to admit that i dont have it all together - that i still dont want to settle down - that i need to feel younger than i am or somehow i might realise how much of a waste my life has been…

time - stop - now!

14 february 2010

we dont “do” valentines day but we did have a lovely time doing some of the things we like doing together.
out for brekkie followed by a movie and a drive - fish and chips byt the water and then church.

sadly the weekend is over now though and its back to work again…

so… all this weather

havent really had much to say lately but i had to acknowledge this crazy weather that we are having -
its been a LONG time since i got wet coming to or from work - but 4 days in a row is like a miracle. then there is sun, then rain - then humidity sets in, then rain, then sun, then rain AND sun at the same time.

i have to say - i enjoy looking out the window at work during the day to see whats going on out there - interesting times…

10 words you need to stop misspelling

Good old fashioned fun

AUSTRALIA DAY 2010…

ok - i admit it - i have a mild form of addiction to lawn bowls. it is sooooo much fun and its doesnt matter if you are crap at it - and you can drink while you do it AND its outdoors which is awesome (except for the 30 something degree days we have been having).
Anyhow - i was thinking about what we should do for our first australia day back in Oz and Lawn Bowls seemed the perfect activity. So i found the local bowling club and turns out they were having an australia day party day and for $10 we could bowl for a couple of hours and have lunch. it seemed too good to be true so we grabbed a couple of mates and headed off - and it was the most fun i’ve had in i dont know how long. we are all pretty amateurish but that made it more amusing and the 3 ‘oldies’ we were teamed with were so awesome - giving us lessons and trying to explain how to play properly. we ended our time at the club having lunch and shouting beers (they can really put them away!!) and then back to S&K’s place to enjoy their air con, the cricket and the hottest 100.

It was a perfect way to celebrate our freedom as Australians.

zero

you can learn something new everyday…

i took a call at work from a very elderly gentlemen the other day. He wanted to get a phone number - i very rarely think about how to pronounce numbers - except for 0. some people cant hear or think you are saying um so i tend to pronounce it zero.
so i was reciting the number back to the gentleman with the last 4 digits being 0600.
i started to say zero six and was interrupted by him stating “no no love - we shot all of them down in the war”
i was a little confused but went on with the number - now saying it as oh-six-oh-oh.
once i’d hung up i googled zero and war.
turns out zero’s were the name given to japanese aeroplanes used in the war.
so i’d managed to offend a war veteran simply by giving him a phone number.

i will never get tired of listening to the older members of the population filling us in on things that they have seen and experienced - and i wont ever use the word zero when giving phone numbers to people anymore.
