Another week has passed – another week getting scarily closer to 1 year old.
Movement is getting quicker, and going further – she even made it all the way into the kitchen from the lounge in one effort.
Lots of floor time and playing, as well as visiting lots of people – it’s been a fun week.

This week PlusOne turned 11 months old. We can hardly believe that in less than a month she will be a year old – utter craziness.
The first half of our week was very busy – getting around and seeing lots of people – then it got a little quieter. PlusOne continues to refine her crazy smile – much to our amusement.
Lots of fun things happening this week. We had a little mini-break up in Sydney so there was lots to see and do. The week started with PlusOne deciding that crawling wasn’t enough excitement, and it was much more fun to stand up and cruise around her playpen. She’s now moving freely around the place – but seems led by desire to reach certain things, rather than to explore more generally.
Being away has meant sleeping in the portacot – which has thankfully gone really well. PlusOne has surived well with much car travel as we’ve been going around the place – and has also got to catch up with a lot of people.
A day at the park with T, R, E & O saw PlusOne have her first go on a swing, as well as some other fun play equipment – she seemed to quite enjoy it. She also got up close and personal with some very inquisitive Rosellas.
Now… onto the photos.
Well it finally happened. We now have deliberate autonomous movement – PlusOne can officially crawl. It took a while of backwards movement, and rocking back and forth – but there is no denying her now. Thankfully she isn’t too speedy yet, and seems very task oriented (trying to get specific things) rather than filled with a desire to explore. I’m sure that will change.
As PlusOne has been trying (and getting used to) a wider range of solid finger foods, we’ve had a couple of incidents where something has gone down the wrong way and she has had to … er… clear her throat… Once such incident was today. But this time the dog took interest (as dog’s do) and when she had a second go – poor pixel got caught in the crossfire. Not much fun for mum to clean up.
A car accident for dad (everyone is fine) meant a new car seat fit into a loaner car (thanks S&K) which PlusOne seems to think is pretty great.
Lots of things happening this week. Tuesday night was an interesting one – high winds meant we lost power at about 4:30pm for a few hours. PlusOne got to have dinner and bedtime routine by candlelight. It all went surprisingly well. We were contemplating the change in life PlusOne has brought about. If there had been a power outage a year ago – we would just have gone out for dinner. It was a very different story this time, and we wouldn’t change it for the world.
On Sunday we made the trip up to Sydney to see Uncle D preach before having lunch with him and Auntie K, E, A & Nan. We also got to see S, K & Baby A again – which was lovely.
It seems to have been a week of rapid development. The first (non mum or dad) word seems like it’s going to be ‘pixel’ – but we’re still waiting to be sure. PlusOne is getting much better at mimicking – and has started doing actions to songs, and responding to requests of clapping, waving and arm flailing.
The most adorable behaviour of the week is that she has decided she likes having cuddles – snuggling in (even if only for a second). We are both quite happy for her to continue with this.
Now, onto the photos…
PlusOne turned 10 months old this past week – time has absolutely flown. She continues to develop her personality, and is starting to show an occasional stubborn streak. She is fascinated by any person (or thing with a face) and is always happy to have a chat.
We had lots of fun catching up with people. PlusOne got to meet L, K & L for the first time properly, and we all got to meet baby A.

Another quiet(ish) week as we all got over colds. PlusOne continues to experiment with new and different foods at lunchtime, and is starting to get the hang of finger feeding herself.
So far Rockmelon seems to be a big favourite. Despite not yet moving in traditional ways – she find her way around the floor like a ninja. Take your eye off her for 2 seconds and she is on her way out the door… backwards…
Now… onto the photos.
The household has been laid low with colds this week – so it’s been a bit of a quiet one.
It started with PlusOne and then took out both parents… not an ideal situation.
We’ve started adding some finger foods to the lunchtime routine which has been amusing as PlusOne likes to feel and pick up the foods but up until today, would only eat what was put into her mouth by mum.
We have also let her scoop some of her food and at the moment she is pretty efficient with both hands – something that will be interesting if it continues.
There is still a lot of flailing and flapping around on the floor with varied success but she gets where she needs to. Its been lovely spending a little time at Austi this weekend with lots of carpet and no dog to contend with.
